Frank Kameny — the World War II veteran and D.C. resident who coined the phrase “Gay is good,” who publicly fought the federal government after being dismissed for his sexuality in 1957, who was one of the fathers of DADT repeal, who agitated for civil rights longer than many of us have been alive — died yesterday, on National Coming Out Day.
